Josie is a female purebred Shih Tzu born on 9-30-10. She is one of the most beautiful doggies of this breed I have ever seen! She’s a beauty in pictures, but wait til you see this little girl in person!
She was an owner surrendered to NorthStar Shih Tzu Rescue on 8-23-14. She was in dire need of a grooming, her eyesight was rather poor as her facial hair had really gone wild and she was having trouble seeing. Once that was taken care of, her great personality began to shine through.
She had not been properly Potty trained, and we are still working on breaking a fascination with carpet. It’s harder to do when a dog is almost 4 years old, but it is possible. She loves to be praised for doing her business outside, and loves to be rewarded with a doggie treat, she’s not fussy seems to enjoy just about any kind. She’s made huge strides on this so far and will continue to do so.
This week she had a Wellness check at the Vet, is a very healthy girl, with the exception of a minor ear infection that should be resolved within a few day with antibiotic drops, she had a microchip put in and is up to date on all vaccinations. She weighs 11.8 #
She gets along with our boy, who is slightly larger than her and a bit more rambunctious. They play pretty hard sometimes which is a nice development as when we first got her I thought she was a “loner type”, but that could have been the vision, and such radical new surroundings. She doesn’t let him bully her at all and dishes it back and can stand on her own.
She loves our fenced back yard and loves to explore, or just lounge in the grass. Ideally Josie would thrive in a quieter household, as a single dog, or another easy going dog around her size. She seems to be intimidated by larger breed dogs. Younger children might be an issue.
She likes to cuddle up on the couch, likes to be included in anything you do, is very curious alert and inquisitive. She loves toys, Chewnola Bones are a fave thing currently.
She will make a wonderful companion for someone that is patient and loving with her and will shower you with excitement if you are gone awhile and return.
She’s a great dog and a real attention getter wherever she goes. We are all going to miss this girl once she is adopted, that’s just how special of a girl she is.

WOW! So many great things about this girl!! You can meet Josie at our Meet the Breed event on Sept 14th at the Eden Prairie Petco from 12-2pm. If you are interested in adopting Josie please PM us you email and we will send you an application.

We would prefer a fenced yard for Josie, as she loves to explore!!
